We checked ten Georgia government sites. Here's what was there.
Cities, counties, districts and authorities have a federal date to make their websites, apps and posted documents usable by people with disabilities. These are the numbers.

Ten sites across metro Atlanta, the I-75 north corridor and the GA-515 corridor, scanned in 2026 with axe-core and checked by hand. Cities, counties, a school district, a library system, a water authority and a housing authority. Method published on request. The most striking single finding: a school board agenda posted as a scanned image, so the document a blind parent needs before a vote reads as a blank page.

Four things worth knowing

Nobody is coming to inspect you.
There is no auditor and no score before the deadline. The test arrives as a complaint, from a resident, a parent, or their lawyer, and it arrives without warning.

A statement is not conformance, and a widget is not access.
In this sample the sites carrying accessibility overlays were not the sites doing the work. The one site with a genuinely current statement had no widget at all.

Fixing it after the complaint is the expensive way.
The bill lands at the worst possible moment and the same problem returns next quarter, because nothing changed about how the work gets made. Move the check to where the document or the code is created and it stops coming back.

What protects you is a record, not a perfect score.
Nobody honest promises you pass everything. The entities that come through fine are the ones who can show that a real person looked, wrote down what was found, and kept looking.

Federal ADA Title II compliance dates: April 26, 2027 for entities serving 50,000 or more, April 26, 2028 for smaller entities and special districts. Standard: WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Both dates moved back a year by a DOJ interim final rule in April 2026. The clock was reset, not stopped.
